How to choose frames that suit your face shape
Depending on your face shape, you can optically slim your face, enhance your cheeks, or shorten your forehead. All you need to do is choose frames that suit your beauty type. How to do this? We provide suggestions in the text below.
Face shape and frames
Glasses that are too large can be overwhelming, especially if the wearer has a smaller face. Conversely, if your cheekbones are wider, narrow bezels will accentuate aesthetic imperfections. That's why it's so important to choose the right model for a specific type of beauty treatment. Take care of your image, highlight your strengths and hide your weaknesses. Check out our tips for choosing the most stylish eyeglass frames.
• Round face – Characterized by prominent cheeks and rounded chin. It is characterized by fullness, well-proportioned and soft. If you have a round face, choose frames that taper downwards and have angular edges. In this case, rectangular or square glasses also work well. They make your face longer and slimmer. It is important that the frame is not too thick. It is also best to choose light colors.
• Oval face - subtle, delicate and symmetrical. It is characterized by a slightly protruding chin and good proportions. If you have an oval face, you'll probably look great wearing any glasses. Well, maybe except for the very wide or roomy ones. Basically, though, you're free to choose between the "Nerd", "Aviator", "Butterfly" or the "panto" models that have been popular for many years.
• Square face - characterized by a well-defined chin and a forehead that is not too high. It has a strong character and is approximately the same length and width. To soften the character of this beauty, just choose a frame with a darker upper part and a lighter lower part, or omit the lower part of the frame. In the situation described, we also recommend thick and wide frames in strong, intense colors. We strongly advise against using rectangles - they also make the face wider, which is not beneficial from a visual point of view.
• Triangular face - wide forehead, tapering downwards. A chiseled chin, small eyes and wide lips are the defining factors of a triangular face. In order to visually restore the correct proportions, thus visually reducing the width of the upper part while drawing attention away from the jaw and chin, you should choose eyeglass frames without a lower rim. Round “nerdy” and oval designs are also good choices. Rimless glasses that consist of just light-colored lenses and delicate temples also look great.
• Trapezoidal face – A narrow forehead, a wide chin, and chiseled cheeks – these are all characteristics of a trapezoidal face. To even out the proportions, it is worth taking a closer look at the upper, more protruding frame. In this case, suggestions like no bottom edge or a darker top and shallower bottom work well. We strongly recommend that you avoid rectangular shapes - they increase the width of the face, thereby enhancing the visual effect of the trapezoid.
